Dr. Christopher Kirkpatrick is a comprehensive ophthalmologist whose interests include refractive cataract surgery, glaucoma, and general eye care.

He graduated Suma Cum Laude from Eastern Washington University in Cheney, WA and then attended the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine where he obtained his medical degree with highest distinction in research and was awarded the Hansjoerg E Kolder award for excellence in ophthalmology. Dr. Kirkpatrick then remained in Iowa City to complete his ophthalmology residency training at the prestigious University of Iowa Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences where he was awarded the PJ Leinfelder award for excellence in research.

Dr. Kirkpatrick has numerous peer-reviewed publications, research presentations at national and international meetings and previously served as the chief medical editor of EyeRounds.org that publishes online ophthalmology educational content. He is active in medical education and continues to teach cataract surgery to ophthalmology residents at the University of Iowa. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS), and board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). Prior to joining Anderson & Shapiro Eye Care, Dr. Kirkpatrick practiced for 2 years at Davis Duehr Dean in Madison.

Dr. Kirkpatrick lives in Madison with his wife and three children. His personal interests include fly-fishing, down hill skiing, running and traveling with his family.
